Athan J. Olivier, III MSN,RN
Chief Operations Officer
Athan J. Olivier, III joined the Teche family as our Chief Operations Officer in 2023. He serves on the Executive Senior Management Team and is actively involved with the overall strategic planning, process improvement and development/implementation of efficient workflow systems throughout our community health system.
Prior to joining Teche, Athan served as the Chief Executive Officer at Teche Specialty Hospital from 2009 – 2023, where he led the operations of a successful multi-campus inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital System. He represented the organization on matters related to Mergers and Acquisitions, Joint Commission, CMS, Medicaid, Third-Party Payers, and Federal/State regulatory and compliance initiatives. Athan also assisted regional Acute Care Hospitals, Post-Acute Providers and Physicians in collaborative efforts and initiatives addressing access to equitable healthcare.
Prior to joining Teche Specialty Hospital, he served as Director of Clinical Operations for Gulf-States Health Services leading the overall clinical operations for hospitals across the Louisiana and Texas region.
Athan also served as lead charge nurse of the Neurosurgery Department and Cardiovascular ICU at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois and General Surgery Department at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is active in various professional and civic organizations, including the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, United Way Board of Directors and Iberia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Iberia
In 2018, Athan was selected as “Top 20 under 40” emerging business leaders of the Acadiana Region. He is also the founding member of Elite Healthcare Group, a healthcare consulting firm specializing in healthcare systems management and mentoring program.
Athan received his master’s in nursing from Loyola University in New Orleans and his undergraduate degree in Nursing from Southern University in Baton Rouge.
